In 2018, Hertfordshire LEP recognised the need for students, career explorers and employers to be able to access advice and guidance on jobs, qualifications and apprenticeships via one single portal.

Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal (HOP) was launched in 2019, to provide a one-stop-shop for talent within the county.

For students and career explorers

HOP is the premier gateway in Hertfordshire to find out about:

• Career path options
• Employment opportunities
• Apprenticeships and work experience
• Skills development and professional qualification programmes

For employers and training providers

HOP enables employers to reach and recruit their future talent, and upskill and provide progression opportunities for existing staff. 

It allows training providers to showcase their services and development opportunities, and provides insights to help them tailor their local offer to meet current and future business needs.

HOP offers a rich bank of Hertfordshire-specific careers resources for use in schools, including:

Labour market infographics setting out key statistics on living and working in Hertfordshire and the ten districts, including major employers.

A Virtual Employer Encounter webinar series which has allowed students to interact with employers from a wide range of sectors throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

A range of classroom resources based on the Hertfordshire Skills Framework, a research project supported by the University of Hertfordshire, which sets out the key employability skills and attributes sought by Hertfordshire employers from young people.
